Swimming and Retirement
Hello. Everything is good here, but you aren’t going to like the beginning of this blog posting one bit. It’s probably going to be a short blog posting and to the point because I didn’t do much today, but what I did was soaked in the pool this afternoon in 74 degree weather. WAIT, before you go throwing snowballs my way….remember that I DID invite you down here with me. I did!
It was paradise today. The air temperature was 74 degrees and the pool water temperature was 82 degrees. Bluest skies I’ve ever seen and not one white speck anywhere in the sky. I swear retirement should be a crime, because this is too good to be true.
You know, I don’t want to rush my younger years away, but let me tell ya, when retirement knocks on my door someday, I’m not only going to open that darn door, I’m taking the whole door of the frame!
To me this is an extended vacation, to my parents this is retirement. What’s the difference? Ha! The difference is that I have a…….ugh…….j-o-b to go back to in the spring. I’m happy to go back to work, because I know (and see) what I’m working for. I do! I’m working to live the life I’m living now permanently later on. Sooo much to look forward to!
Anyways, Jake’s birthday was today and we celebrated with a walk around the park and I fed him his normal food for lunch but he didn’t keep it down, so the little baby is going to have to visit the vet tomorrow to see what’s going on with his system. The last few days he hasn’t been keeping his food down, but he’s been walking around and acting pretty normal. But, I’m taking no chances – tomorrow – to the doctors!
We didn’t go to the casino today, yeah, I know, I can’t believe it either, but I did splurge on scratch tickets today, see……
Gosh, last time I bought scratch tickets was at a gas station in Louisiana. Today, I won $3 dollars on all of those ($10 dollars worth). Oh well. I guess I could of won, but not today.
Well, that’s all I did today. Pretty quiet day. Hope you all are keeping warm. Take care, I’ll be back to bug ya tomorrow!
permanently
Happy Birthday Buddy!
Hello! How are you doing today? Me? Excellent! I’m in a yappy mood tonight, you have been warned! Ha!
I got one comment yesterday which makes me laugh because I see how many visitors I get everyday and that number is never under 50 visitors a day, sometimes getting as high as 120 visitors a day. I’m going to assume that around 25% of the higher number found my blog by accident looking for something else. Ha! And yesterday I got one comment from a reader that has a blog just like me! I like reading blogs and this RVer is traveling my way! You can read his blog by clicking HERE. Maybe we will cross paths someday and say Hi!
That would be great!
Hey, it’s my little buddy’s birthday tomorrow, or today, whenever you are reading this (born Jan 10, 2002)! Now does my email address make sense to you: dpjake11002@aol.com. My initials, his name, his birthday!
I know I’m talking about tomorrow, but I’ll get to talking about today in a minute, but I have tell you about my pal, Jake! (Blogging gives you the right to have run-on sentences, I just noticed that!)
Anyways, most of you know I have a dog. I got him at a pure breed Maltese breeder in New Hampshire. He was 12 weeks old when I got him with all his little paperwork (shots, AKC paperwork, family tree, etc.) Yes, ha, he had family tree paperwork. Anyways, the day we when to the breeder’s home and picked him up, he crawled inside of my jacket, and I knew that was my going to be my buddy. The breeder lady asked me “We call him Snowball. What are you going to call him?” I simply said, “Jake”.
Tomorrow, he turns 8 years old.
So tomorrow will be a Jake day. He’s pretty easy going……go for a walk, bike ride, lay out in the sun. He’s on a strict diet, so no extra snacks.
I’ll post some pictures of him here…
Tiny little guy. He found his spot on the couch of the RV when we first got the Montana last winter….
This next picture was when we did the Animal Rescue League Walk in New Hampshire this past summer……we were relaxing after the walk. We raised $55 dollars for the Animal Rescue League.
And this next one was taken Nov 20, 2009 at a Customer Appreciation/Open House at a local Harley Davidson shop in Manchester, NH. That’s a pleather Harley Davidson Jacket he’s got on……soo so spoiled……
Well, that’s my baby and we hang out and do a lot together.
So what did we do today? Not much in the afternoon. I was online and watching TV most of the day. I sat outside and some people riding their bicycles by stopped to say Hi and small talked for a little while.
Simple day today and then tonight arrived and we went out to play at the Quechan Casino. It was busy there, but there was plenty of slot machines calling my name! I was doing pretty good. I put a $20 in the slot machine and my balance went right up to $74 dollars! Couldn’t believe it.
So I decided to push my luck and I don’t normally do this at all, but I saw a $5 dollar slot machine that I usually hyper-ventilate when I walk by because it’s soooo expensive to me. But today…..something just seemed funny, so I decided to take $20 of the casinos money I won. That’s how I justified it. If I win some money from the casino, it’s the casino’s money I’m playing on.
So anyways, I put $20 in the $5 slot machine and I hit the button and the reels spun and landed on the bonus feature. Just like that. Just one spin. I kid you not, couldn’t believe it myself! This particular bonus feature spins the arrow on the wheel above the reels to land on a fixed amount and the minimum you can win on this bonus feature is $100, so I know no matter what I was walking away with at least $100. So the arrow starts spinning above the reels and passes amounts like $750, $200, $800, and lands on $500 and stops! Woo-Hoo, $500 dollars! I couldn’t believe it. All I could think is that I hope this luck stays with me in Vegas!
So, that’s how my day went. Pretty relaxing day with a tad of a profit. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures today, but there wasn’t anything to take a picture of. I wish I could of taken a picture of the slot machine won on today, but I didn’t want to get kicked out. Cameras in casinos is a big no-no down here.
Well have a good night and I’ll be back tomorrow night. Right now it’s 12:51am and it’s officially Jake’s birthday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!
Bike Ride and Bingo (I won!)
Hi! Are we having fun yet or what? I think to myself that I won’t be back home (New Hampshire) until around Mid-April (hence why we are dragging out feet) and then I think, “Wow, we still have Vegas to go to, and Texas to explore!”. Yep, we are still in the first stage of this trip so hang on because I’ve got many places to show you! Don’t worry, with plenty of pictures to go, too.
Last year I did a blog very similar to this and at the end of that trip I had posted 115 entries. You can take a peek at it here http://rvtrip08.wordpress.com. Why I didn’t keep it going is because it was my very, very, very first blog ever and I didn’t know what I was doing. This time around I wanted to create more of a website to have some fun with and include plug in applications (all those added features on the sides of the blog), advertising opportunities (don’t forget to click on my ads
), reader subscriber availability (so I can bug you through your email), AND more importantly a blog site I can continue with year after year. A wordpress.com site is very limited on what you can do, but I’ve learned a lot about blogging last year and I’m a border-line blog-aholic!
I’m not the greatest writer in the world. Maybe if I had taken that one creative writing class back in the days, I could “write” better today, but I write like I talk and most of my readers like that. You know my thoughts, you know how I feel when I say something, and when I say something you catch my drift!
Ha! I love it……I don’t know why I said all that, I might of taken up two more minutes of your time, but I’m not going to erase it. It’s what’s on my mind……
SO, what did I do today. I took Jake for a bike ride around the RV park. I have a basket on the front of the bicycle and he fits right in there. It was very nice weather today…..right around the low 70′s. Just hanging around the park this afternoon was nice…..
Ha! You caught that I didn’t mention the word “casino” yesterday at all, didn’t ya? But I went to the casino tonight, but only to play Bingo! I won $50 dollars tonight at Bingo! I didn’t play any slot machines, just played Bingo and walked out with a profit of…..let’s see…it cost $45 dollars to play Bingo….I won $50 dollars…..hee hee…..well…..do I have to say it…..sigh….$5 bucks. But, it’s the winning that was cool….I was waiting for number 22 and sure enough, number 22 comes up and I shout, “Bingo!” and then I shout “Bingo” again and my neighbor across from me says “They heard you.” I say, “Are you sure?” Okay, I don’t play Bingo that often……
Tonight when I got back to RV, I took Jake for a walk and now I’m relaxing…..Have a great night and I’ll be back tomorrow. If we doing anything exciting, I’ll bring my camera with me……
Tell me, tell me….do you have a blog?? If you have a blog, post it on the comment section and I will list your blog address in my blog tomorrow!
Shopping
Hi! Wow, this is my 51 posting and I’ve got 40 comments so far. Nice, huh? Yeah, I sure think so. I couldn’t of done it without you. Thanks for following along….
Today, we didn’t do too much. I’ve got a friend from back home, he and his wife come to Yuma in the winter like us, so he emailed me and told me he was down here, but when we stopped by today (3 miles from our RV park), they weren’t home. But, that’s okay, because we will try to visit again shortly. He emailed me and told me that most of New Hampshire is hanging out over there! I’ll have to go check out that party……
Today we went to the flea market. It was a short trip just to stop by and our neighbor bought some some stuff for her RV. After that we went to pick some oranges in the……what do you call it……orange farm…..fruit farm……well, it’s a lot area with orange trees, grapefruit trees, and lemon trees. Don’t touch those lemon trees, they have those thorns on them that will bite you if you get close enough
So, we got some oranges and I pulled out some lemons from the lemon tree with a “picker” that has a wooden stick handle. Alot of the fruit has been picked already, but this picker thing helped to get some of the fruit off the top area of the tree.
We returned to the RV and relaxed in the afternoon, very hot in the sun today…..didn’t do much and then 4:30 rolled around and it was time for dinner. The recreational hall had a dinner tonight and I love these types of dinners. We had to buy tickets to this two days ago and it’s so worth it. You pay $6 per person and you get your choice of a steak, chicken, or pork. So I choose steak and tonight they gave me my uncooked steak and I went outside the rec hall to one of the 6 or 7 pre-heated grills that they provided and I cooked my own steak. And I’ll be darned, I’m a pretty good cook! Couldn’t believe it. Came out perfect! After I cooked my steak, I took it back inside and went to the buffet style table set up and got my baked potato, corn, bread, and salad and then went to my table. Yeah, just like that. It was too cool! Me, personally, I’m not that fluent with grill cooking. I don’t get that much practice cooking with fire, but I did it and it turned out great. My steak came out medium-well and no one got hurt. Can’t wait to do it again! There’s another dinner just like this one coming up later this month. I can’t wait to go.
Later tonight we went shopping. Our neighbor wanted to buy these mini speakers that you use on a laptop to get great sound quality. So we visited Staples and he found ones that he liked and I ran across the E-Book Reader by Sony. I’ve heard of these, read about these, but never actually seen them. I didn’t thing they were so big, I was thinking maybe the size of a blackberry, but these E-Readers (or whatever you call them) come with a 6 inch screen and I guess the Kindle now comes with a 9 inch screen. Too Cool! I was browsing around in Staples for the Ipod Touch (I was dreaming of getting one), but ran across these E-Readers on display and it just caught my attention. I love to read and I can easily get lost in Barnes and Nobles and I’ve spent a couple of thousands of dollars in books…….so I was thinking…hmmmm…maybe I can keep reading and not have so many books stack up in the corner that I never touch again after I read them. And THEN I saw that the Sony E-Reader holds 350 books and my excitement started all over again! And then my eyes swiped the price and my excitement didn’t last too long. Wow, they aren’t giving those away for free, huh? So, tell me, tell me, tell me, do you have one of these E-Readers?? And I don’t want to hear Yes or No, I want the scoop!!! Tell me which one you have, why you love it, and if you hate it, I want to know whyyyyyy……
You have a good night and I’m still thinking of all the comments I’ve gotten so far – You guys rock! Nite Nite!
A Simple Day With Three Casinos
Hi! I put so much information in my title, huh? I say that because that’s basically all we did today – but I’ll walk you thru my day
Hey, you’re checking on me, and I can’t ask for anything more than that ![]()
Okay, we went to Walmart (typical trip for our weekly stuff), and came back to the RV….real exciting, huh! Then we all (us and our neighbor) went to the Quechan Casino because today was Senior Day there, and if you are a senior you can get $10 free from the casino to play the slot machines with…..this was exciting to everyone but me….I don’t qualify for the free $10 dollars
, but of course, I tagged along…..
I lost $80 dollars there (I figured I just funded 8 senior free plays). We left the Quechan Casino and went to the Paradise Casino (the Quechan Casino and the Paradise Casino is owned by the same indian tribe), and at the Paradise Casino, I lost $40 dollars more…..
So we returned to the camper and attended card bingo here at the recreational hall. That’s always fun! I like that. Tonight there was 172 people at card bingo! We didn’t win anything there……
After card bingo, we went to Walmart to pick up some water for our neighbor who is preparing her dry camping trip to Quartzsite. Yes, Quartzsite is coming up soon!! It about 1 hour ride north of us and it’s a piece of desert (yeah, I think it’s safe to state it that way, no disrespect to the town of Quartzsite intended), and for three weeks a year they have huge expos and trade shows. We will be attending the Quartzsite Sports and RV show, but we don’t dry camp, we try to avoid dry camping unless it’s en route to another destination and we have to stay in a Walmart or casino parking to get there – that’s the extent of our dry camping, so we will take the pick up truck and go up for the day to explore the RV trade show. I’ll bring my camera! ![]()
Okay, so I got off track a bit…..back to today…..Walmart was sold out of gallon containers of distilled water (for her RV battery), so we went to another Walmart and kid you not, sold out there too!
Between the two Walmart trips we detoured to Cocopah Casino for an hour and I was playing the Wild Cherry slot machine and hit a triple symbol on the first reel, a single bar on the second reel, and a triple symbol on the third reel, for a payout of $180. So I profited today, but not by much.
Yeah, pretty busy day, but uneventful. Tomorrow we are going to the flea market in the morning and don’t know what’s in store after that. Should be fun…..check back tomorrow!
Have a great night!
Lutes and Casino
Hi! Most of today we relaxed. I mean it was 77 outside today. I didn’t want to go anywhere except to sit outside with Jake. It was great! Every time I came back inside the RV, I just wanted to go back outside and enjoy the weather. Jake and I took a walk around the park and then the sun went down and let’s have some fun…..
For dinner tonight we went to Lute’s Casino Restaurant. You have to stop by there if you pass thru Yuma. It’s a 1/2 mile off I-8 exit 1, so there’s no excuse why you can’t stop by, it’s a great place. It’s just a hamburger and beer joint, and I had a hamburger and cherry Coke. After dinner, yep, you guess it…
We stopped by Quechan Casino and boy, am I glad we did – I won and kept winning. Very profitable day for me today. One slot machine bonus feature paid me $269.00 and I won $100 on Keno and some more money here and there. Nooo, there’s no secret to it, luck was on my side!
Now, we are back home. I gave Jake his evening walk around the park and now I’m here watching TV. OH, we have a jammed packed schedule this week, too! Upcoming this week is a visit to Mexico, back to the casino, I’ve got Bingo Friday night and it’s Steak and Chicken night here at the RV park on Thursday night.
Have a great night and I’ll be back tomorrow! Thanks for checking on me!
Yuma Fun Factory
Hi! Today we ventured out. We went down to Airwave Communications (Sprint Authorized Retailer) to buy a new plastic case that snaps around my Blackberry. Got to take care of my baby now that it’s working again. I had a case for it, but it wasn’t the greatest and made out of a rubber material. So now we are going with plastic. I bought a black case and ordered a another one of another color to switch them out when I feel like changing the color of my Blackberry. Ha! I have so much stress in my life – Hmmmm, what Blackberry color case should I use today – black or some other colorful hue……decisions, decisions…..
Okay, what else did we do today – I’ve got pictures!!!!!! We ventured over to the Yuma Fun Factory. This is right off the highway here (I-8), like 5 or 6 miles from us. Always saw it from the highway, always wondered what the heck is was all about. Today we stop……
Outside they have mini golf, go cart track, and bumper boats…..
Part of the mini golf course….
Let’s take a look inside. We ate lunch here today. The food is okay. As you can see this is a glamorous Chuck E Cheese. If you have kids, you can’t ask for a better place. They have a deal every Monday – Unlimited go carts, unlimited mini golf, and unlimited bumper boats for there hours, and $10 of arcades all for $19.99 per person.
They have a restaurant and full bar – more like a sports bar with TVs everywhere…..
Let’s take a look at the arcade section……
Well, that’s what we did so far today. And tonight, you know what tonight is……I’ll give ya a hint….Monday night…..Monday night Bingo at the Paradise Casino!!! I’m feeling lucky too! I’m going to go in there and dab all my little boxes on my paper and shout “BINGO!” and I can feel that money in my hands already! Well…..that’s my plan at least!
Well, that’s all for today….have a great night!
