South Of The Border

Hi! You read that right – we are at South Of The Border and you know where South Of The Border is, don’t ya?? It’s right on the border of South Carolina and North Carolina!! Yep, we left Florida this morning (sniff, sniff, cry, I miss Florida already) and flew right over Georgia (I saw Georgia because we ate lunch at a truck stop there), and we slid right thru South Carolina parking at the North Carolina border. Weren’t expecting that one, huh?? :)
Well, we are slowly heading north bound (yeah, real slow, huh) :) Well, I guess this snowbird trip is getting to the end. I hate it just as much as you do. :( Well, this blog will continue to the very end, trust me, you’ll know when it’s the last blog post, it’s not yet. :) So, tomorrow, I’m not sure how far we will go but I have already figured that it’s 512 miles to the Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Pennsylvania. But we aren’t in a rush, so who knows where we will end up tomorrow night. :) But I will say that it will be nice to see family and friends again…nahhhh, I’ll just stay back in Florida and send everyone postcards! Haha! :) Hope you are enjoying your weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow! :)

Windy and Relaxing

Hello! Super windy today! Kicking up dust and sand all over the place. I had a to get my eye drops out today to get all the sand out of my eyes. I heard it was still raining up in the Northeast, wow, I hope that has moved on before we leave Florida on Sunday. So, what did I do today?? We went to Perkins Restaurant for lunch, I had the BLT wrap sandwich and a salad. We returned to the RV and I talked on the phone most of the day, talking with friends, hearing how they are doing. Then, Mom and I walked up to CVS and back, didn’t buy anything, just walked the circle. When we got back to the RV, we grabbed the laptop and headed over to the RV park clubhouse to get a decent internet signal. And with the help of the ethernet cord, we made a great internet connection to checked emails and surfed the internet. Tonight we went to Pizza Hut for one large pizza, 1/2 cheese, 1/2 meat lovers!! Now we are back at the RV relaxing for the night. Tomorrow we are going to visit my aunt and uncle in Groveland and visit the local area and a Russell Stover chocolate store! :) Nothing to exciting happened today. I love days like these sometimes, it doesn’t go by as fast. Well, I’m going to read a little and relax more, I’ll be back tomorrow. Thanks for checking on me! :)

Windy and Stayed Home

Hi! Wow, it was windy out today. Not as windy as the Northeast got, but a little on the windy side down here. Today I woke up a little early, not sure why, guess I slept great last night or maybe it had something to do with the time change. Anyways, Jake and I sat outside this morning and watched the squirrels bounce around on the grass. Usually Jake has a “squirrel fit” and wants to chase after them all, but this morning he just sat on his doggie hammock and watched them play on the grass. I did warn him “Don’t you move” and he didn’t. :) For the past two days I’ve been leaving out peanuts around the big tree here on our site and the squirrels would come down and grab one and run back up the tree. Hey, it’s the simple life here and that’s what I did this morning.
I called my aunt and uncle up in Groveland and there’s a chocolate factory right down the road from them so we made plans to visit the factory on Tuesday. What else did I do today?? Let’s see….I downloaded more application programs to my Blackberry and Mom and I took Jake for a walk to Dunkin Donuts across the street. There’s a sign outside of Dunkin Donuts that said 99 cents for a medium iced tea, so I had to get one. We had a cookout today with hot dogs and hamburgers. I always like a cookout and remember that apple pie we bought at Perkins last night, yep, it’s all gone now. We finished up that pie while watching “Undercover Boss” tonight on TV. Other than that, we didn’t go anywhere, we didn’t do that much. Tomorrow is suppose to be a little windy too. We don’t have anything planned for tomorrow, but I hope to spend a lot of time outside watching the squirrels with Jake! :) Have a good night and I’ll be back tomorrow! :) Night Night!!

Perkins and Gift Store Shopping

Hello! Wow, today delivered beautiful weather. I was outside in just a t-shirt today and I took Jake for a long walk around the park avoiding the left over mud puddles in the road. We have a neighbor to our left that has one of those rain amount measuring over sized test tubes that tells how much rain we got. There’s got to be a name for that plastic measuring thing, but anyways, we got 3 1/2 inches of rain here at the campground. Everyone was out walking around today, sure was great weather. This afternoon we went to Perkins to eat a lunch/dinner around 3:30 and then Dad dropped off Mom and I on US 192 (the main street here right outside our RV park) and we walked to a couple of local gift shops. Oh, I almost forgot, at Perkins we did buy an apple pie to take home, half of it’s gone already – so delicious. So, anyways, at the gift shop I bought this pouch type bag with Florida written on it, made to hold important documents and money. It’s got the state of Florida on it with a flamingo. It’s got a zipper on the top and I’ll use it for something, not sure yet, it was only $5 dollars.
So after walking around and returning to the RV, we watched TV into the evening. Tonight we went to Old Town, 2 miles from us, they were having Classic Cars Cruise Night to see all the antique cars brought in from all over the country. They have this every Saturday, but for some reason, tonight was packed! I heard an official at Old Town say to someone that they had over “300 and something” number of antiques cars here tonight. Those cars are neat too! Yes, Jake came along with us tonight, but with the number of people there, I carried him around all night. Everyone loved him and they all thought he was so cute.
After the Cruise Night, we came back to the RV and put a knife in the apple pie. It was so good too. Melted in my tummy and almost put me to sleep! :) It was a simple day today. Tomorrow is Sunday and we have nothing planned. Monday or Tuesday we have some neat plans…..noooo, I can’t tell you yet :) . Not sure what day yet. Anyways, I would say that tomorrow will be a simple day with nothing big going on, but you know us…..something always happening! :) Have a good night and I’ll be back tomorrow.

2nd day of rain

Hi! Rained all day today. I slept wicked late today – almost to 11am – I’m getting a little lazy here, but it’s okay because that’s allowed on rainy days! :) Today we ran errands. Walmart for more ink for my printer/copy machine. Post office to mail letters. And I called three veterinarian to see if they have Prescription Science dog treats….none had any….they told me it has to be special ordered. Noooooo, my dog isn’t high maintenance….of course not :) So I ordered a bag of dog treats thru the local vet and now we sit and wait for them to come in next week. Jake is on a z/d diet from Prescription Diet. He can’t digest protein so he’s on a ultra low protein diet and the dog treats are hypoallergenic too. He’s doing super good with that dog food! :) They have a big (not huge) Pet Supermarket here next to where we live so we stopped by there and brought Jake in to see if he found anything appealing, but he didn’t and surprisingly got bored quickly. So we went back to the RV and watched TV. We didn’t do that much today. Tonight we went to Bob Evans Restaurant for a light dinner and iced tea! :) Pretty uneventful day, but easy going. I must say that I love this area in Florida. I’m a city girl and Kissimmee is filled with neon signs and dozens of restaurants and people everywhere. I can walk to Dunkin Donuts, CVS, and a plaza with shops and restaurants. Walmart is 1 mile away, and all other places (bank, theather, grocery store) all within three miles) – I love it! :) Well, I’m signing off tonight to watch a little TV – I’ll be back – have a good night! :)

Rain, Rain, Go Away…..

Hello! The weatherman has broke the news that we are getting heavy rain and thunder for two days straight. Today was day one….with a very warm temperature, it down poured most of the day and caused the RV park street in front of our camper to become a river. With the weather warning including high winds approaching, we took down the canvas that went from the awning to the ground and we wound up the awning. In the meantime Mom and I went to the recreational hall here at the RV park and used our laptop there with better internet signal available there. After taking care of internet business we came back to the RV and I gave Jake a b-a-t-h. You know how he can be when that word is mentioned…..but he survived, only bolting from me twice this time. Today was a simple day. Tomorrow is suppose to be yucky weather and we don’t have much planned. I think we are going to catch a movie. Other than that, everything is good. Have a good night and thanks for checking on me! :)

RV Fender and Bob Evans

Hello! Today was a fun and simple day…..We went to Camping World and picked up the new fender for the Montana. Remember the one that got torn in half and one half stayed on the RV and the other half decided to say “Bye Bye” on I-10 in Texas when we had the tire blow out. Well, we ordered the new fender and it came in yesterday, so we took Jake and headed over to pick it up. Perfect, exact piece too, straight from Indiana. Since we were out and about we wanted to find a place to enjoy lunch, but were bored with the typical Perkins and Dennys, so as we drove down US 192 we saw a restaurant we never been to before : Bob Evans Restaurant. Fast food? Buffet? Counter order or is there waitresses and waiters in there?? No ideas, so we stopped in and checked it out. Wow, neat place, we had a chirpy friendly waitress and we browsed over a menu that had quite a bit to choose from. I went with the Chicken Pot Pie -yummy! I don’t think we have that restaurant back home. Going to have to look in our connecting states! :) After lunch we came back to the RV and installed the new plastic fender – looks great!! Good to go! :) Tonight we went to Bingo here at the RV park which I love and now I’m relaxing watching TV with Jake. These days are going a little fast and I don’t like that too much. We are all doing great in Kissimmee, Florida! :) Have a great night and I’ll be back tomorrow…..

“….One Giant Leap For Mankind”

Hello and Welcome to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral! The gateway to space exploration for the past 50 years! This place rocks! Okay, okay, let me start at the beginning. We, meaning my Aunt, Uncle, Mom, Dad, and Moi went to the Kennedy Space Center today! Jake stayed home, but I have to let you know that if you are passing thru and you have your pooch with you, there is a Kennel building right next to the ticket booth compliments of the Space Center. The kennel and parking is free and I hope you have more than a few free hours because the tour we took was great!
We got there at 9am when they open and the first tour starts at 10:20am. We had plenty of time to walk around areas of the gift shop and other areas that showed mini clips of planets and space shuttles, videos of what the space center has done in the past and what they are working on now! At the gift shop I bought a t-shirt and we worked our way to the bus terminal to start our tour. The tour took us as close to the 39A launch pad as possible that all of the past shuttles have been launched from. The shuttle fleet consists of Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. Discovery is set up on the launch pad now and sitting pretty waiting for it’s lift off date of April 5th. It was amazing to see! From 1981 to today, more than 123 shuttle flights have taken place.
We drove past security and communication buildings and watched a video on the bus.
We stopped at a building that played a video of a couple of the first flights and we got to see the giant structures that make up the world’s largest launch facility that put people on the moon and to the International Space Station. And, yes, we visited the building and saw the technicians and engineers that are building new sections to add to the International Space Station. From 1988 to present, more than 26 Space Shuttle Missions have been complete. Fifteen nations are now participating in the International Space Station program: the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The International Space Station is on orbit 220 miles above earth and circles the globe every 90 minutes!
I’ll give you one more cool fact: At lift off, the large orange-colored external tank holds over 500,000 gallons of cryogenic fuel – liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen. The Shuttle’s three main engines consume this fuel in about eight and a half minutes. Isn’t that so cool!!
On the NASA premises you will come across a “Moon Rock Cafe” that offer plenty of choices for lunch! You can really take your time and enjoy Kennedy Space Center at your own pace. You hop on and off the bus on your own time at your own pace! :)
This facility has an IMAX 3-D theater), an Astronaut Hall of Fame, the Shuttle Launch Experience with the 1/6 gravity chair to get you into the moment, and if you call in advance you can have lunch with an Astronaut! Many, many programs that you can take advantage of including the ATX training which includes operating a full-scale shuttle mock-up!
I know I’m jumping all around with the information, but we spend the whole day here and saw alot! And the wild life on NASA grounds are protected, I saw 5 alligators, 2 eagles, and 1 armadillo! So, bottom line; put the Kennedy Space Center on your list of tours to visit as you explore Florida! :)
Tonight we are watching TV and tomorrow we are picking up the new plastic fender for the RV because it came in today. So a trip to Camping World is in store tomorrow and we will be bringing Jake along with us!! :) Have a great night!! I had such a good time today!! :)

Relaxing, Nascar, and Perkins

Hello! Today I slept in a little late and relaxed outside most of the morning with Jake. Jake just loves his new hammock. He stretched out and enjoyed the hammock as I read my magazine in the sun. Speaking of the sun, I can see that the temperature is rise outside everyday and it will be up in the high 70’s later this week. I’ll be sitting outside more and more often this week.
This afternoon I watched some TV and watched the Nascar race. We were waiting for the Nascar race to end to go out to eat and I’m glad we held out for the race to end because there were some intense crashes in Nascar today. After the race, we went to Perkins (I know, I know, we are addicted to this place) and we broke down and bought another pie to bring home for the week. Yes, for the week because it will not last that long. Delicious french silk pie. Oh, yum! When I’m done with this blog posting I’ll be getting myself a slice of that pie. Tonight we are watching the 82nd Academy Awards! This show is taking up my usual Sunday night show of Undercover Boss. I love the show Undercover Boss – I’ll have to catch it next Sunday night.
Other than that, it’s been a nice relaxing day and I’m excited that we have another two weeks here. Tomorrow we are off to Cape Canaveral. I can’t wait to tell you all about it tomorrow. Off to get my jammies on and get a blanket and get comfy with Jake to watch the rest of the Academy Awards! Have a great night! :)

Yard Sale and Lobster Pizza

Hello! Well, the title gives it all away but let me get into detail about my day today! :) This morning we drove the 3 miles west and went to Celebration, Florida where the small town was having their town yard sale. We brought Jake and walking around from house to house looking at their sale items on the sale walk in front of the homes. I’m not really a yard sale person, don’t really have experience in finding a bargain in second hand goods, but we had a good time. After combing over all the yard sale items, we walking around the center of town where there is a big pond, movie theatre, post office, bank, etc. This little town has these little vehicles residence use called “NEV” which means “Neighborhood Electric Vehicles”. To me it looks like a cool golf cart on steroids….it has four seats all facing forward (we had a golf cart and the rear bench seat faced the back), anyways, it has a windshield, a roof, and it was neat looking. Wait a minute, I’ll find you a website to these things since I can’t upload photos. http://nevportal.com/members_gallery/NEVs1.php that website should help with what I’m talking about :) And they have meters on the side of the street where you parallel park these NEVs and you pay the meter and plug the “car” into the meter to charge them up. They are so neat!!
After exploring the town of Celebration, we came back to the RV and turned the TV on only to be faced with the food network talking about pizza. So, Jake curled up on the couch and we went out of pizza for a late lunch. We were trying to decide on a pizza place and pulled into Pizza Hut and right next door to Pizza Hut is Red Lobster so I suggested Lobster Pizza! Yummy! It was so good. I wouldn’t mind having that once a month.
As for the rest of the afternoon, I took Jake for a long walk around the park and watched TV for the rest of the night. Movie, sitcom, cop show, and now AMA pro motorcycle racing at the Daytona race track is on TV. So, this is how I end my night. Oh, I have to say that I did sit outside for a while today and Jake loves his new hammock that I bought him at Camping World this week. He was in that hammock for at least a half hour until he spotted a cat and I had to bring Jake back inside for a little while until the cat left. He still gets all excited about a cat and wants to take off after it. I swear he will never learn. But all in all, it was a very good day. Tomorrow we aren’t going far as Nascar is on TV, but I’m sure we will go out to eat. I’ll let ya know! Have a good night and enjoy your weekend! :)
