Moving on…..

Hello! Yes, we are moving on…..leaving Arizona tomorrow for Laughlin, Nevada (<- click for Laughlin tourism website). I love Laughlin, there are about seven or eight casinos that sit on the edge of the Colorado River in Laughlin. I will get pictures to show you how pretty the Colorado River is. I’ve been to Laughlin before and I always look forward to going back. There is an RV park across the street from one of the casinos that we stay at. The RV park does have a paid internet router service but I will not be hooking up to it because we are only staying in Laughlin for two days. There’s really not a whole lot to do in Laughlin but if you are a casino lover – you are in heaven. The pictures I will take will have to wait to be posted when I get to Vegas next week because I can blog to you on my Blackberry everyday but can’t post pictures on my blog from my Blackberry (bummer).
So, what did we do today? Packed up a little bit. It was a tad windy today with winds getting up to 30 mph. We loaded the bicycles on the RV and packed away the outside table and all the chairs. We are not in a rush to leave in the morning. Laughlin is a little over 200 miles from Yuma! Easy skip over to there. Tonight we went to the Quechan Casino, ugh, I didn’t do too well at all there today, lost about 100 bucks.
As for Jake, he’s doing super! He eats his new food twice a day, takes his medicine twice a day and has a treat once a day. I got two emails today asking how he’s doing. I’ve got people calling me “Crash” and asking how Jake is doing. “Hey Crash, how is Jake doing?” Nice, huh? I’ve got great friends! :) In the slight chance that you were wonder how I’m doing. I’m doing great. Healing nicely, the hand and knee will take a little longer to get better, but I can walk just fine. Don’t need a disability plaque card just yet :)
All in all, everything is great. Arizona was fun and we did a lot, but time to move on. Hope everyone is doing good and thanks for checking on me (or checking on Jake!) – LOL!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Hello! How are you doing today? Me? Excellent! I’m in a yappy mood tonight, you have been warned! Ha!
I got one comment yesterday which makes me laugh because I see how many visitors I get everyday and that number is never under 50 visitors a day, sometimes getting as high as 120 visitors a day. I’m going to assume that around 25% of the higher number found my blog by accident looking for something else. Ha! And yesterday I got one comment from a reader that has a blog just like me! I like reading blogs and this RVer is traveling my way! You can read his blog by clicking HERE. Maybe we will cross paths someday and say Hi! :) That would be great!
Hey, it’s my little buddy’s birthday tomorrow, or today, whenever you are reading this (born Jan 10, 2002)! Now does my email address make sense to you: dpjake11002@aol.com. My initials, his name, his birthday! :)
I know I’m talking about tomorrow, but I’ll get to talking about today in a minute, but I have tell you about my pal, Jake! (Blogging gives you the right to have run-on sentences, I just noticed that!)
Anyways, most of you know I have a dog. I got him at a pure breed Maltese breeder in New Hampshire. He was 12 weeks old when I got him with all his little paperwork (shots, AKC paperwork, family tree, etc.) Yes, ha, he had family tree paperwork. Anyways, the day we when to the breeder’s home and picked him up, he crawled inside of my jacket, and I knew that was my going to be my buddy. The breeder lady asked me “We call him Snowball. What are you going to call him?” I simply said, “Jake”.
Tomorrow, he turns 8 years old.
So tomorrow will be a Jake day. He’s pretty easy going……go for a walk, bike ride, lay out in the sun. He’s on a strict diet, so no extra snacks.
I’ll post some pictures of him here…
Tiny little guy. He found his spot on the couch of the RV when we first got the Montana last winter….
This next picture was when we did the Animal Rescue League Walk in New Hampshire this past summer……we were relaxing after the walk. We raised $55 dollars for the Animal Rescue League.
And this next one was taken Nov 20, 2009 at a Customer Appreciation/Open House at a local Harley Davidson shop in Manchester, NH. That’s a pleather Harley Davidson Jacket he’s got on……soo so spoiled……
Well, that’s my baby and we hang out and do a lot together.
So what did we do today? Not much in the afternoon. I was online and watching TV most of the day. I sat outside and some people riding their bicycles by stopped to say Hi and small talked for a little while.
Simple day today and then tonight arrived and we went out to play at the Quechan Casino. It was busy there, but there was plenty of slot machines calling my name! I was doing pretty good. I put a $20 in the slot machine and my balance went right up to $74 dollars! Couldn’t believe it.
So I decided to push my luck and I don’t normally do this at all, but I saw a $5 dollar slot machine that I usually hyper-ventilate when I walk by because it’s soooo expensive to me. But today…..something just seemed funny, so I decided to take $20 of the casinos money I won. That’s how I justified it. If I win some money from the casino, it’s the casino’s money I’m playing on.
So anyways, I put $20 in the $5 slot machine and I hit the button and the reels spun and landed on the bonus feature. Just like that. Just one spin. I kid you not, couldn’t believe it myself! This particular bonus feature spins the arrow on the wheel above the reels to land on a fixed amount and the minimum you can win on this bonus feature is $100, so I know no matter what I was walking away with at least $100. So the arrow starts spinning above the reels and passes amounts like $750, $200, $800, and lands on $500 and stops! Woo-Hoo, $500 dollars! I couldn’t believe it. All I could think is that I hope this luck stays with me in Vegas!
So, that’s how my day went. Pretty relaxing day with a tad of a profit. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures today, but there wasn’t anything to take a picture of. I wish I could of taken a picture of the slot machine won on today, but I didn’t want to get kicked out. Cameras in casinos is a big no-no down here.
Well have a good night and I’ll be back tomorrow night. Right now it’s 12:51am and it’s officially Jake’s birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE! :)

A Simple Day With Three Casinos

Hi! I put so much information in my title, huh? I say that because that’s basically all we did today – but I’ll walk you thru my day :) Hey, you’re checking on me, and I can’t ask for anything more than that :)
Okay, we went to Walmart (typical trip for our weekly stuff), and came back to the RV….real exciting, huh! Then we all (us and our neighbor) went to the Quechan Casino because today was Senior Day there, and if you are a senior you can get $10 free from the casino to play the slot machines with…..this was exciting to everyone but me….I don’t qualify for the free $10 dollars :( , but of course, I tagged along…..
I lost $80 dollars there (I figured I just funded 8 senior free plays). We left the Quechan Casino and went to the Paradise Casino (the Quechan Casino and the Paradise Casino is owned by the same indian tribe), and at the Paradise Casino, I lost $40 dollars more…..
So we returned to the camper and attended card bingo here at the recreational hall. That’s always fun! I like that. Tonight there was 172 people at card bingo! We didn’t win anything there……
After card bingo, we went to Walmart to pick up some water for our neighbor who is preparing her dry camping trip to Quartzsite. Yes, Quartzsite is coming up soon!! It about 1 hour ride north of us and it’s a piece of desert (yeah, I think it’s safe to state it that way, no disrespect to the town of Quartzsite intended), and for three weeks a year they have huge expos and trade shows. We will be attending the Quartzsite Sports and RV show, but we don’t dry camp, we try to avoid dry camping unless it’s en route to another destination and we have to stay in a Walmart or casino parking to get there – that’s the extent of our dry camping, so we will take the pick up truck and go up for the day to explore the RV trade show. I’ll bring my camera! :)
Okay, so I got off track a bit…..back to today…..Walmart was sold out of gallon containers of distilled water (for her RV battery), so we went to another Walmart and kid you not, sold out there too!
Between the two Walmart trips we detoured to Cocopah Casino for an hour and I was playing the Wild Cherry slot machine and hit a triple symbol on the first reel, a single bar on the second reel, and a triple symbol on the third reel, for a payout of $180. So I profited today, but not by much.
Yeah, pretty busy day, but uneventful. Tomorrow we are going to the flea market in the morning and don’t know what’s in store after that. Should be fun…..check back tomorrow! :) Have a great night!

Lutes and Casino

Hi! Most of today we relaxed. I mean it was 77 outside today. I didn’t want to go anywhere except to sit outside with Jake. It was great! Every time I came back inside the RV, I just wanted to go back outside and enjoy the weather. Jake and I took a walk around the park and then the sun went down and let’s have some fun…..
For dinner tonight we went to Lute’s Casino Restaurant. You have to stop by there if you pass thru Yuma. It’s a 1/2 mile off I-8 exit 1, so there’s no excuse why you can’t stop by, it’s a great place. It’s just a hamburger and beer joint, and I had a hamburger and cherry Coke. After dinner, yep, you guess it…
We stopped by Quechan Casino and boy, am I glad we did – I won and kept winning. Very profitable day for me today. One slot machine bonus feature paid me $269.00 and I won $100 on Keno and some more money here and there. Nooo, there’s no secret to it, luck was on my side! :)
Now, we are back home. I gave Jake his evening walk around the park and now I’m here watching TV. OH, we have a jammed packed schedule this week, too! Upcoming this week is a visit to Mexico, back to the casino, I’ve got Bingo Friday night and it’s Steak and Chicken night here at the RV park on Thursday night.
Have a great night and I’ll be back tomorrow! Thanks for checking on me! :)

A New Year

Hi! Welcome to 2010!
I wanted to share some pictures of our New Years Eve before we get too far.
This is at the Quechan Casino event conference room….
This is a picture of the next morning. We brought home some balloons that was our centerpiece on our table….
And today we had a nice day outside with Jake…..
This afternoon we went to the Cocopah Casino and I won $333.00 in Keno. I wonder if one could get through a season living just off winnings from gambling at a casino. Hey, if it’s possible (and if that happens to me), I’ll be writing a book on it…..what do you think….the title would be “Living Off Casino Winnings With Pennies In My Pocket” LOL!
Anyways, moving on….oh, tonight for dinner we splurged at the Olive Garden. I love that place. And now we are back home.
There are two things I love about blogging……your comments and checking my Blackberry for emails from my friends after they read my blog. I got an email today that made me laugh from a friend back home, “You’re having way too much fun, so you’d better just knock it off and start being miserable like the rest of us.”
Ha! You are too funny. Now you know I have you all in the back of my mind when I see our temperature drop below 60. This is what I’m thinking “Oh, boy, temperature just dropped to 57, that’s cold, I wonder how my friends back home are holding up.” :) Awwww, you know I’m thinking of ya. Stay warm and have a good night.

New Years Day!

Happy New Year’s Day! I’m typing this from my Blackberry (yes, it’s still working :) ) because I didn’t feel like booting up the netbook at this hour, I’m sure you’ll forgive me this one time :)
I’m in bed and here in Arizona it’s 2:25am, at my home in New England it’s 4:25am – wow, now that’s staying out late.
So, tell me, how was your New Years Eve?? Mine was great! I did get pictures and I will post them all tomorrow. Tonight (or at this hour I should say “last night”) was great. We ate a wonderful Prime Rib dinner at the Yuma Military Base 20 miles north of where we are staying. Why a Military Base? Well, when in Rome…..I guess a lot of RVers go there to enjoy New Years Eve dinner and wow, what a nice restaurant it was with a very enjoyable atmosphere and setting. After dinner, around 10pm we headed over to the Paradise Casino, but nothing was really going on over there, so around 10:45 we ended up at the Quechan Casino and kicked in the New Year there. In their event center room, they had a band, dance floor and tables for everyone. I lost some money there, but finished up the night with a 50 dollar win at the Keno machine.
So, what is your New Years resolution? Mine is to get up earlier in the morning….boy, do I hate to start this year off with a lie! :)
Have a good night….I’ll be back tomorrow with pictures, I don’t think we are going anywhere tomorrow, I promised Jake a bike ride around the RV park. :)

Flea Market and Casino

Hi! We are being pretty predictable now in our day to day routine, huh? Ha! This morning we went to the Flea Market….yes, Jake went too! Everyone was returning gifts at Walmart so the Flea Market was not busy at all. We bought a water filter for the RV and Jake made some friends there. I saw five other little dogs walking around the flea market.
After we left the flea market, we came back home and relaxed. Real eventful day so far, huh? :) Around 2pm, our neighbor….yeah, the one that made all that delicious food yesterday….knocked on our door and wanted to know who wanted to go to the Quechan Casino. We really didn’t have to put much thought into it and we all climbed in the car :) Off to the Casino….
At the casino we ate at the buffet – only $6.95 for lunch buffet with your magic player’s card! And we played the slot machines for a couple of hours. I lost. Well, I started off winning, but then eventually lost. :) Should of stopped while I was…..nah, I’m not going to say it! LOL!
Anyways, we are back home relaxing now and I just got done feeding Jake. I thought we would hit the movies today, but hopefully we will go to the movies soon. Adult ticket for an afternoon movie is $6.50 – over 55 years old is $5 bucks! Not bad at all.
So that’s all we did today and we are watching TV. We didn’t sign up for cable here so we are limited to our channel selection.  I’ve never watched “That ’70s Show” before, but I’m slowly getting use to watching it. Maybe I’ll change the channel and go back to watching “Cops”. Have a good night! :)

Movie and Casino

Hi! Well, I don’t have any pictures for you today. Whoa, don’t leave me now…I gotta tell you about my day! :) I didn’t do much today, but for me, it was a great day!
I went to the movies! Dad wanted to see “Avatar” (click Here to watch movie trailer, it will open in a new window) and I really didn’t see any commercials about it….so I went along, not sure what it was about. This is a very good movie and James Cameron, once again, put together special ingredients for action packed entertainment. The movie is 165 minutes long and delivers a great story, impressive graphics, and action that did make me jumpy at times! I’m not going to tell you about the movie in case you want to see it. But I will tell you that it was worth the price of admission….. :)
Today was a very windy day. The awning on the RV came in and the chairs were picked up and stored away. Things were blowing around everywhere and Mom said she saw a Christmas tree working its way down the street in control of the wind. I saw in the news today that this wind surge caused quiet a wreck in Phoenix today, you can read about it by clicking Here.
After the movies, we went out to dinner at KFC 1 mile from the RV Park that we are staying at and tonight, yep, you know what we did tonight…..
Casino Time! We stopped by the Quechan Casino and I lost, lost, lost…..got nothing out of that casino. On the way home, some of us (there are 5 of us) wanted to stop at Paradise Casino and majority won, so we stopped and boy, am I glad we did! I won $100 at Keno, $100 at Wheel Of Fortune, and $219 at some volcano themed slot machine that I can’t remember the name of! I’ve lost enough money until now, it’s was time for the tide to turn. So, now we are home and it’s late. I’m sure this blog will post for the 23rd of December, but to me, it’s still the 22nd.
Not too sure what we are doing tomorrow, but we all decided no more casino until next week……..okay, you can stop laughing now. Have a good night! :)

Typical Touristy Day

Hi! Okay, I know I’m going a little crazy with the camera lately but I want you to see everything I see!!! Get comfy, this is gonna be a long one…..Today was a typical touristy day!
This morning we went to Mexico from 9am to 11am….I brought my eyeglasses prescription with me in the RV from home because I wanted to get some eye glasses in Mexico. I have a pair of glasses now that I got from my eye doctor back home and I requested a prescription written because I knew I would be visiting Mexico and wanted to explore their eyeglasses style. (Did I just repeat myself – sigh – senior moment). So, anyways, we went to Mexico this morning and..ohhhhh….they have all the brand name eye glasses down here – Prada, Gucci, Versace, and they even have a brand here that I’ve never heard of before called “Casino”!!! I don’t care how they look on me……I love them already!
Oh, prices…….the prices between eye doctor offices in Mexico vary because they are all craving for your business, but with the transitional and anti-scratch lenses, and frame, the Casino brand ones that I want are $109.00 complete. Not bad huh? I might get two pairs of glasses! They have neat eye glasses styles down there……anyways, I got a few pictures of Mexico today…..
Don’t know why this picture came out hazy…..anyways, this is the police car in Mexico – ha, like you can’t figure that out, huh :)
We went to the bakery today in Mexico and you see on the top shelf is loaves of bread…well, they are 30 cents each. Very good bread, we bought 3 of them today…..
Everything is for sale in Mexico – these here are 60 dollars. Well, they started off at 60 dollars. When I started to walk away, they guy brought the price down to 40 dollars and then again down to 30 dollars. I kept walking…….
Oh, we went to the liquor store to buy Dad some cigarettes. This is Margarita mix – no, I didn’t buy any liquor today, but I wanted to show you the price…….
Ohhhh, this is the place I was looking at frames for new glasses!!! :) I can’t wait to take my prescription back and see which ones I decide on……
Okay, moving on, after we left Mexico around 11am, we headed over to the Quechan Casino which is on the same road to go home (how convenient!) and I walked in with $100 and walked out with $84 dollars, so I lost, but not too much. We ate lunch at the buffet and I didn’t have to pay a dime – I had COMP points on my magic players card that paid for my buffet! You can’t lose with a buffet, all the food is really good, but when the buffet is free somehow it just tastes sooooo much better!!! :)
So, we left the casino and flipped through our tourist magazine we got free in Yuma and saw that there was a Antique Car Museum in Bard, California – not far at all, right next to that Imperial Date Factory we went to earlier in the week. About 30 miles away. So we stopped by there and checked out the place…..
We are still exploring…..do you see what I see????? Is it a….??
It IS a slot machine…..Oh, boy! Yesss……Do I touch, do I not touch??? Hmmmmm…….
Yeah! Let’s touch!!! :) Nickle goes in…….
Hang on and let er rip!!!!
Oh, it actually works!!! LOOK at those reels spin!!!! I won 3 nickles……..
Okay enough with the slot machine…..didn’t want to break it…….moving on to do other exploring…….
Okay, that’s what we did today. And tonight we are having dinner at the rec hall here. We bought tickets for a steak dinner for $6. We bring our ticket, they provide the steak and we have to cook it ourselves on the grill. Pay for it and cook it ourselves?? Hmmmm…..I’ll let ya know how mine comes out – Ha! Have a good night and I’ll bug ya tomorrow.

A Little Bit About Yuma!

Hi! I don’t have pictures today, but I’m in a yapping mood, so you will have to suffer through all I have to say. Nooo, don’t hit the “Close” button yet on the browser just yet. I might have something interesting to say. Let’s see, first off, what did we do today? Everyone gets to that point in their life where you know the wiring between the two DVD players, the surround sound system, and the TV just isn’t right. Our TV works great, and our DVD player works great, but the surround sound system isn’t working right. Wiring problems? Gotta be! So we took the TV out and traced the wires between all the video and audio systems to see if we were missing something, and it looks like there’s a cord belonging (belonging? is that a word?), that belongs between the TV and one of the DVD players to activate the surround sound system around the RV. I know that makes no sense at all, but after an hour of fidgeting around between all the tech stuff here, we have come to that conclusion. Anyways, we will go to radio shack and pick up the wire and give it a shot. I don’t know, we will figure it out. Oh well….enough about that.
Let me tell you a little about Yuma! That’s where we are – Yuma, Arizona until Feb 4th (then where? Vegas baby!), and I wanted to tell you a little about Yuma! There’s a few things I want to hit on. First off, there were 9 movies made in Yuma or right around the Yuma neighborhood. 1) The Son of the Sheik – 1926, 2) Road to Morocco – 1942, 3)Flight of the Phoenix – 1965, 4) Yep, you guessed it, Star Wars! – 1977, 5) Rambo III – 1988, 6) Stargate – 1993, 7) The Getaway – 1993, 8) The Scorpion King – 2002, 9) Jarhead – 2005.
There! That’s your entertainment and history lesson all in one. Anyways, what else did we do today? Oh, we went to Walmart and went to the Quechan Casino and Resort. Ugh, I lost a little bit of money there, but I was doing pretty good at Keno! I like Keno, I remember when I was in Las Vegas last winter and I played the live Keno (not the Keno on an electronic machine, live Keno where you fill in the numbers with a pencil and give it to a Keno host), anyways, I played the Keno at the Binion Casino and I won $380, I got 6 out of 7 numbers. I couldn’t believe it! I love Keno now! We don’t have Keno in New Hampshire, actually we don’t have any gambling in New Hampshire. Keno is in Massachusetts and the casinos are in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine.
The Peanut Patch here in Yuma is neat. I’m still thinking about it. If you are in town you really should stop by. The store has peanuts, peanut brittle, medjool dates, homemade fudge, honey, trail mixes, and citrus. Yep, I’ve got the brochure right here and I’m reading in the brochure that peanuts are a vegetable!! They are a legume! Legumes are a rich source of plant protein that contains no cholesterol. Peanuts can help reduce risk of heart disease, help you with weight loss, and peanuts contains vitamins! You can look the details up on your own time, I’m just reading what’s in the brochure! :) The Peanut Patch is at 4322 E. County 13th Street and their phone number is 1-800-USA-PNUT.  They have a free tour on Tuesdays and Fridays in the months of January, February, and March. Neat!
Oh, I want to hit on Lutes Casino a little bit more too (where we had dinner last night)! I had a few people email me that wanted more information on this restaurant. I got that brochure here too! And it’s interesting too….Though this is called “casino”, there isn’t any gambling at the Arizona’s oldest pool hall. Basically, it’s just a hamburger and beer joint! And they have great hamburgers too (That part isn’t in the brochure, I’M telling ya that for a fact :) ), so let’s see here…..The Lutes family still owns and operates the “casino”, which R.H. Lutes acquired when a gambler to whom he’d loaned money couldn’t pay back his debt! Interesting story, huh? I thought so! :) Neat little place! FYI: Not really a RV friendly area. There’s plenty of parking, but I am talking about downtown. You will have to be super creative to park a RV down there, so I don’t recommend it.
Well, that’s pretty much all I have on my mind today. Tomorrow we have plans to go exploring…I can’t tell you where! You’ll have to come back right here on this site to find out what we did and take a peek at some of the pictures I got! Yep, I’ll bring my camera! Have a good night and chat tomorrow! :) OH, and leave me a comment…say Hi….tell me what you are up to….don’t by shyyyy :)
