Outside Recreation….
Hi! Today we didn’t go anywhere. No where at all. We got quite a few things done, but didn’t mosey out of the park. Last night there was a wind storm. Wind Storm? Dust Storm? Sand Storm? Not sure what to call it, but it rocked the Montana all night and Jake was up whimpering all night long. He didn’t know where to take cover. Because not only did it rock the RV, but it was loud! Whistling and howling thru the park making its way between all the campers here.
This morning I woke up rather late, around 9 and stepped outside to see most of the RVs and vehicles covered in a light brown dust. I saw people dusting off their cars and one lady saw me and said, “Hello Survivor!” Yeah, it was that bad. Anyways, we called the company that comes around and washes your RV for ya. Portable car wash?? Well, it’s a full size van and three guys who go around and wash campers. Now, you know how big our RV is and they only charged us $35 dollars and an extra ten bucks to wash the Dodge. As they were washing our RV, one of the guys kept getting phone call after phone call and I kept hearing him say, “Yes, Sir, we will be there as soon as possible.” and “Yes, we will get to you as soon as we are done this RV.” I guess business is pretty good for them….
We called up another RV company today too….now, this is pretty cool….there’s a company down here and I can’t remember the name, but I can look it up if you want the info, but it’s a company that goes around and repairs campers (remember our broken leg). So we called them up and asked them to stop by and check the leg on the camper. They agreed and then we asked if they would work with the Keystone Extended Warranty and they said YES! Now, wait a minute here, usually for warranty work and any type of RV work, you usually make an appointment at the dealership, then wait two months for your schedule appointment to arrive, then when you get there and get the camper in, they have to inspect the repairs needed and then call your warranty company and then order the parts, blah, blah, blah, you get the picture…..
So, when this RV repair company stopped by today, they took the leg right off the camper and took our warranty information. Upon inspecting the leg after they took it off, they said that it was a sheared pin and they can repair it and bring the leg back to us the next day. Wow. We are not people that want a whole new camper because something is broke, we just want it repaired, and it’s better if the money doesn’t come out of our pocket or if we don’t have to haul the RV to the dealership for repair work. So we will see tomorrow if the leg comes back to us (don’t laugh, I’ll let ya know
)
I read other RV blogs, and I was reading about another RVer who was getting repair work done to his motorhome at a dealership in Indiana this past weekend and they left the RV at the dealership to go get someone at the airport, upon returning to their motorhome that was parked outside the dealership, they saw that their motorhome had been broken into……..their motorhome had been broken into and the intruder was still inside……read about it by clicking here
After all the cleaning and repairing was done here, I put Jake in the bicycle basket and went for a bike ride. As for the rest of the afternoon, I made out some bills, made some phone calls and mailed out some postcards. It’s was a simple day, and pretty productive. Hope you all had a great day too! Nite Nite
Nice Easy Day…..
Hi! Well, today was a nice easy day. Today we checked in at the office (remember we arrived at the campground and got setup in our site late Friday night). So we all talked about how long we wanted to stay and all the other destinations we wanted to see this winter and we came to decide to stay in Yuma for 2 months! Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to travel and see what else is down the road, but when it comes to settling down for a couple of months and enjoying the area and company around me, nothing makes me more happy! So we are here until Feb 4th, then we will head up to Las Vegas for a couple of weeks. So, what else did we do today? Not much, it was very very windy out. I watched some TV and do you remember the corn on the cob we picked up at the flea market……

Today was rainy and windy….I think I brought the Northeast weather with me…..The rain here is very misty so this is how we tell if it’s raining out…..it’s just a fine type mist that you can hardly see. I see that there are RVs around us with some minor awning damage due to the wind. It’s very windy outside and the wind stayed with us all thru the evening.

Ohhhh, dinner is almost ready…..

Even Jake got lazy today….I caught him falling asleep on top of the couch…..

This evening I went to Bingo at the Paradise Casino here in Yuma. We are staying off Exit 12 off Highway 8 and Paradise Casino is off Exit 1 so it’s not too far away. Bingo was from 6 to 8 tonight and I went with my neighbor, she’s alot of fun! I didn’t win, but she won $50 bucks! I’ll try again next week!
Time to go back to relaxing…..have a great night! Oh, we will be doing alot coming up in the next few weeks, we’ve got a Christmas Parade happening soon, we are going to visit Old Yuma, and there are some landmarks that I’m going to talk about! Thanks for checking on me!
Yuma! And Snow??
Hi! I think I’m going to make this more of a picture blog entry! Hey, I’ve got internet here at our Yuma RV Park. So I downloaded all my pictures and found the best ones to post for you. Just give it an extra second to download them on your screen and I hope you enjoy them…..
When we left El Paso, this is what we were faced with……I left New England so I wouldn’t see this stuff…..and now it’s on the ground…..

The bicycles got their share of it too…….

See, it wasn’t just a little dusting either……

Well, the sun was coming out, so it didn’t last long…..so you think…..

This is I-10 in New Mexico……

And at 8am, this is what is sneaking up behind us……

We made it to Yuma that same day and the next day we went out exploring……this is what we found in Yuma…..The Foxy Company was putting together their finest veggies for you right there in the field on the side of the road……..

They pick, wash, pack, and ship right there from the field. After it’s boxed up, the tractor trailer back right up and is loaded right there on the spot and shipped to your local grocery store!

After we drove around enjoying the scenery, we stopped at the Quechan Casino (of course!). This casino opened last winter while we were here. It was quite busy today. I lost $60 bucks……

After we left the casino, we headed down the street (like 4 miles or so from the casino) and we went into Mexico to check out what’s going on today!

A festival was happening in Mexico. In case you are wondering, we park the car on the United States side and walk over the border. As you can see, the town is right there! And when you leave, you just have to show your passport to the border inspector and then you pay $5 dollars to leave the parking lot to the toll attendant.

The Margarita’s were flowing and they were all free…….

After the shows, we went walking around to the little shops……Everything here is negotiable…..I have a blanket I bought in Mexico last winter that was $7 dollars, I love that blanket and I wanted another one of another color, so I found a vendor who was selling the blanket that I wanted and he said (in his cool Mexican accent) as he points to the stack of blankets, “$12 dollars”. I said, “No, not $12 dollars.” He said, “What do you want to pay?” I said, “Not $12 dollars.” He said, “$10 dollars”. I said, “No, $8 dollars.” He said, “$9 dollars right now.” I said “$8 dollars right now.” He said, “Okay, pick your blanket.” So, I flipped thru the colors and found one I liked and gave him $8 dollars (exact change of course)
and we were on our way. We stopped by the bakery next door and bought some bread for 30 cents a loaf. Yep, 30 cents a loaf! Good bread too. Very sweet tasting bread. Different than what we have here in the United States. But, anyways, we moved on and I think that’s all we bought – NO, I almost forgot, we did buy a couple of cartons of cigarettes for Dad. They sell the same exact brand down in Mexico and up in New Hampshire, they are $54 dollars a carton, and down in Mexico, that same carton (looks the same and everything) sells for $20.50. So we got some of those.
During the festival, they had alot of vendor tables out on the sidewalk giving away free stuff. Alot of pharmacies had tables out giving out boxes of free pills. Between the cut up English language, I think I understood, “This is for flu. This is Vitamin C. This is for menopause. This is for anti-depression. This is for heart burn.” And it’s funny because they were passing those out. I mean, you don’t go by the table and pick them up or pick up what you want, they are shoving them in your plastic bag you get at the beginning of the line! I had more pills than I knew what to do with, or wondered again what they were for! So it was time to leave and I juggled my bags to get my Passport ID card out (have you seen these yet, they look like a driver’s license) and got in line to check out of Mexico. It’s always an easy procedure thru the border and the inspectors just want to know what ya got (if you have more than 2 cartons of cigarettes on ya, you don’t have to pay tax on the first one, but all cartons after that, you have to pay taxes on them at the border. But we only had one per person on us). So I’m waiting in line and it’s my turn next and I’m called up to the counter. Mr. Inspector sees my bags and says to me (of course in perfect English), “What do you have on you?” I say, “I got a carton of cigarettes. A blanket. And a bunch of pills for free.” I knew if I had purchased the pills, I would of had to produce a receipt. He immediately looks from his computer screen to me and says, “Where did you get the pills?” I say, “The vendors were passing out a ton of them.” Hey, I was telling the truth – gulp! So he says, “You are only suppose to bring back one pill.” I’m assuming he meant “one box of pills” because that all I had was boxes and boxes of pills. I say, “Okay, so, I’ll pick one andddddd……” as I look around for a trash can. He goes, “Just go. Just go ahead and you’re all set. Just go.” and I hear a big sigh from him as I left the counter will all my pills that I forgot what they were for and I don’t really know what I’m going to do with.
We left Mexico and went to another casino (you knew that, didn’t ya!), and we stopped by the Paradise Casino. This is a small casino in Yuma. We played some slot machines there and then headed home again. Our friend here, next door to us, was with us all day today, she made us dinner tonight and gave me access to her internet router. She’s great company and alot of fun to be with too. That was nice of her. So after dinner at her RV, we came back to the Montana (just next door) and gave Jake a bath and tucked him into bed.
As for me….I unfolded my new blanket from Mexico and laid it over my comforter and I’m ready for bed! I’ll leave ya with some other pictures I took in Mexico. Have a great night tomorrow is flea market day and we are dining out…..check on me tomorrow!

A RV Park Off The Highway
Hi, We left Coushatta Casino this morning around 8:30 this morning and drove into Texas! Now, as big as Texas is, we are going to be somewhere in Texas for the next couple of days. And I know in some parts of west Texas, I get no internet signal or cell phone signal. I’ve experienced this last winter.
And I’m watching the weather now, the weather don’t look good at all. Snow is heading our way – at least one inch of snow…..who knows where we will be perched by then…..
Today, we parked a little early because it is super windy out and the direction of the wind is right at us head on. So, at this rate, we will be fueling up every day unless that wind dies down a little.
So, where are we now? We are about 70 miles or so east of San Antonio in a little town called Flatonia. And our adventure side came alive and we decided to park for the evening at a campground on the side of I-10. We’ve been adventurous before, but I don’t think we’ve been this adventurous. Well, we saw the sign to Flatonia RV Ranch…..well, we actually saw the RV park from the highway and we saw some RVs parked so we decided….why not park there tonight. We will try it. Oh, they have a website to this park http://www.flatoniarvranch.com/. So we checked in at the office and was told for 28 dollars, we could pick our own site. How nice of them…AND, there is Wi-Fi here and that’s what counts! And Wi-Fi means I’m here to bug you again!
So, let me show you some pictures that I took today……

They shut down I-10 today for an unknown reason….I really didn’t see anything exciting or why they shut a major highway down…..but they diverted us off the highway on one exit and we went up the next exit ramp to get back on the same highway again…..

Alot of highways around us….neat!

Here’s the check in office at where we are staying tonight…..

Some pictures of the RV park that we are staying at tonight…..

So that was our day today….pretty uneventful…..I’m enjoying my hot tea and the heater right next to my feet since it’s freezing out right now and I keeping looking at the weather channel now….and it just don’t look good at all……might have to come up with a change of plans….HA! We don’t have any!!!
LOL! Okay, I’m done. Have a great night and talk tomorrow!
Leaving Pensacola towards Biloxi, Mississippi
Hi! WOW, I’ve got a great Wi-Fi internet connection here at the RV Park we are at today in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi! This RV Park is called Hollywood RV Park and Casino – yep, a casino! We have stayed here before – twice last winter. It’s a small quiet RV park and right next door is a parking lot and a pretty decent size casino. We are staying here just one night and, just like the roll of a dice, who knows what direction we will go tomorrow or where we will end up! BUT, now I have internet connection for my laptop – I’m happy……..
So since you’ve had two days of no pictures on my blog….you are about to suffer today thru alot of pictures so let the page download fully so you can see all the neat pictures I’ve taken……
We spent two days with Bob and Linda in Pensacola and really enjoyed our stay. Let me show you where we parked the Montana for two nights….right in his driveway…….if you look closely, you can see one of our front legs is broken (for now, we will fix it in Arizona), we’ve got a jack under there to level it out……

There’s the super van that we took to the Wind Creek Casino in Alabama yesterday! Nice ride…..

OH, when we were in Pensacola – we had to go shopping – look what we bought……

Don’t see it?? Let me zoom in a little……see it now……

Yep, it a camera for the tail gate, well, for wherever you want to install it on. This little camera shows from the bumper to 10 feet behind the truck. Bought it at Advance Auto Parts store for forty something dollars – don’t remember exactly how much……OH, there’s the monitor right there on the dashboard and it just plugs right into the cigarette lighter outlet.

The bicycles are staying straight on the front of the RV now. We are good to go…..

Okay! We made it to Biloxi today….Cloudy, raining, and boy, did that rain come down heavy at times!! Flooding on some parts of route 90. But, this picture right here is what you see when you enter Casino Alley in Biloxi. Alot of casinos to enjoy here. OH, the RV park that we are staying at right now is only 45 minutes west of Biloxi, so we aren’t that far. But, we have a casino right here in this parking lot, so we are all set……

They are building a Margaritaville here and, hmmmmm, wait a minute, they were building a Margaritaville here last winter too….now that I think about it, this construction site hasn’t changed at all in a whole year. Nothing has changed about it, still looks the same as last winter! Talk about job security…..

Some more pictures of Biloxi…….

Ohhh, here comes the Hard Rock Casino on the left…..

Of course, every destination needs a tourist trap…..Come get y’all souvenirs…..hee hee…..

Okay, we promised Jake a run on the beach…….I must say that the temperature outside was between 66 degrees and 70 degrees the whole time, so don’t think it was cold out…..nope, nice a warm right next to the ocean……

There he is….a happy little puppy……..almost can’t seem him against the white sand……

I must say that the ocean water has a tint of brown in it….not really a blue ocean at all……all the water down here has a brown tint to it…..and now that I think about it…..I’ll be drinking bottled water until we leave this area….yuck!

There’s our GPS telling us where to go, traveling right against the ocean…….and yep, it’s no big secret, you know what GPS brand we have!

OH, and no blog entry is complete without a picture of Jake still in bed…..that lazy mutt!

Well, we are settled for the afternoon and I’m looking at the casino right out my window in front of me. You know it’s calling my name too!!!! So, wait, before I leave for the night to live it up next door, I need a question of the day for you…oops, sorry…I mean “y’all”! Okay, tell me…..you know I love casinos….tell me where your favorite casino destination is. Is it Reno? Las Vegas? Connecticut? Biloxi? Have you been to Biloxi? Let’s talk casino! Leave me a comment below……I want to hear from you!
Have a great night and I’ll be back tomorrow……night night!
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Hi! Hope everyone had a wonderful day! We didn’t do too much today. We went out for lunch for Thanksgiving, having turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and topped it off with a chocolate cake, over at Denny’s across the street. It was simple and very nice. We came back to the RV park after, oh got a quick picture of the park, hang on…..

Our RV isn’t in that pictures above, but it’s just a picture I snapped walking Jake around the park. It did finally stop raining and it’s really nice out, right around 65. Today we really didn’t go that far in the afternoon, just enjoyed the weather and environment. Jake did too….

OH, the bike rack has been reinforced!! All those power tools paid off…..Take a peek….

See! Cut the wood, paint it, and presto – reinforcement!
Let’s see how it works will the weight of the bikes – stay tuned!
Enjoy the rest of your day today and tomorrow I’m off to Universal Studios all day – one girl, one park, one camera! Check back tomorrow for pictures and to hear about my day at Universal Studios (I’ve never been there before!)
